About

I’m an anthropologist, born in Canada and raised all over the world because of the oil business. I’ve been teaching anthropology and a bit of sociology at Grande Prairie Regional College in northern Alberta for over 20 years! On sabbatical August 15, 2012-August 14, 2013, I’m seeking to refresh the set of experiences I share with students until I retire. I want to learn of new places and ways of life, and gather lots of stories. Many of the courses I teach focus on indigenous peoples, ethnic relations and race relations, so these are the topics I’m paying special attention to during this year’s journeys. I’ll be staying in the Americas – politically, if not geographically speaking.
